The Catholic Cemetery Conference and its Parish Cemetery Committee are the first and most important national resources available to promote and support efforts to oversee, guide, and strengthen parish cemetery ministry. Groups such as the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians already offer maintenance and memorialization support to individual parish cemeteries. Organizational and operational concerns have revealed opportunities for these groups to bring their expertise in ways that have far greater impact and value to the Catholic Church and its parish cemeteries.
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
A variety of offices, departments, and committees within the Conference offer resources and opportunities to identify and support the oldest of Catholic lay ministries. These entities can provide guidance to diocesan bishops to ensure proper priorities are identified and uniform approaches are maximized to meet the growing ministerial opportunities, administrative needs, and legal challenges facing today’s Catholic cemeteries.
